The Fifth Sunday after Pentecost
Epistle 1Pet3:8-15 Douay-Rheims

Be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, being lovers of the brotherhood, merciful, modest, humble: "Not rendering evil for evil, nor railing for railing, but contrariwise, blessing: for unto this you are called, that you may inherit a blessing. For that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile. Let him decline from evil, and do good: let him seek after peace and pursue it: Because the eyes of the Lord are upon the just, and his ears unto their prayers: but the countenance of the Lord upon them that do evil things. And who is he that can hurt you, if you be zealous of good ? But if also you suffer any thing for justice sake, blessed are ye. And be not afraid of their fear, and be not troubled. But sanctify the Lord Christ in your hearts, being ready always to satisfy every one that asketh you a reason of that hope which is in you.

Gospel Mt5:20-24 Douay-Rheims

For I tell you, that unless your justice abound more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. You have heard that it was said to them of old: Thou shalt not kill. And whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment. But I say to you, that whosoever is angry with his brother, shall be in danger of the judgment. And whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council. And whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. If therefore thou offer thy gift at the altar, and there' thou remember that thy brother hath any thing against thee; Leave there thy offering before the altar, and go first to be reconciled to thy brother: and then coming thou shalt offer thy gift.

Love and Desire
June19, 2005

Love and Desire! These are the two legs that move you. Love and Desire.

They move you towards justice or injustice, to God or the flesh, to Holiness or worldliness, to Suffering or sacrifice. It is your choice in the direction it will take you. They blind you against the flesh, comforts, wealth so that your only focus is God and thus able to serve him better. Love and desire can prevent you from seeing anything but God.

"Blessed are they who long and thirst for justice for they shall have their fill." Create that justice anew first in yourself. With your tongue you can sing beautiful hymns to God. Yet How can you say we Love when with the same tongue in the next minute we commit calamity, swear falsely, and kill, yes I mean KILL the reputations of other. Where is the justice? Is it not similar to the Scribes and Pharisees? How can we say we love God, praying here with our hands clasped together looking at the crucifix and later we are seduced by lust, watch the sins of others without praying for them, without having a desire that they should be better than me in getting to God. Where is the justice, similar to the Scribes and Pharisees, is it not?

Love your enemies! Sacrifice for them! Make your enemies friends. It is by deeds you will know them. If somebody mistreats your be happy that you are able to love and with desire accept it all in order for that person not to vent them selves on another who will commit a sin by taking revenge. If your your coat gets stolen give the person another so that he will not steal again so the he will not offend God

Leave the false sacrifices behind and behave as the true law teaches! Search out on your hearts ill fillings and sacrifice them on this alter. Fill your hearts with forgiveness! Desire to be Holy as the Father is Holy.
