PRAYER FOR LIGHT
Come, Holy Ghost, enlighten the hearts of Thy faithful, and kindle in them the fire of Thy love. Send forth, Thy Spirit, and they shall be created, And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth!

Let us pray
0 God ! Who didst teach the hearts of the faithful by light from the Holy Spirit, grant us to relish in the same spirit, things that are right and to always enjoy the consolation that cometh from Him. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

0 Mary conceived without sin! Pray for us who have recourse to thee. (Seven times).
V.—pray for us, 0 Holy Mother of God,
R.—That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us enter in spirit into the adorable Heart of Jesus: let us place ourselves in the presence of God; let us adore Him and give Him thanks for all the benefits we have received from Him, particularly this day.

POINT 1
0 God! we adore Thee through the Sacred Heart of Thy Divine Son, as our Creator and Sovereign Good; we give Thee thanks for all Thy mercies to us, spiritual and temporal, general' and particular, but more especially for the favours bestowed on us this day. May Thy holy Name be eternally praised and glorified, and may we never be ungrateful for Thy bounties. Amen.

POINT 2
Let us ask of our Lord Jesus Christ, the grace to discover the sins we have committed this day, and let us beg of Him a true sorrow for them. 0 Lord Jesus Christ! Judge of the living and the dead, before Whom we must one day appear to give an exact account of our whole life; enlighten us, we beseech Thee, and give us a humble and contrite heart, that we may see wherein we have offended Thy infinite Majesty, and judge ourselves now with such a just severity that Thou mayest then judge us with mercy and clemency.

Let us examine ourselves, and consider how we have spent this day; what sins and faults we have committed against God, our neighbour or ourselves; and reflect whether we have complied with the full duty of our state in life.

POINT 3
EXAMEN OF CONSCIENCE
Particular Examen
How many times have I fallen into the fault or practised the virtue of my Particular Examen ? Mark down the record.

Did I make the Morning Offering well?—Did I say my Morning Prayers -well ?— How was my Meditation, Holy Mass, Holy Communion?—My Spiritual Reading—My Noon Examen?—My Particular Examen?—My beads?—My other vocal prayers?—My visits to the Blessed Sacrament ?—My evening- Meditation ?

2. Vows
Poverty: Have I without leave given anything ?—Lent ?—Borrowed ?—Accepted ?— Or retained anything?—Have I been wasteful in my charges ?—Or neglectful ?— ave I had a spirit of ownership?—Have I cherished independence of Superiors?

Chastity: Has there been any fault in act, word or thought?—Too great affection for anyone?—Have I exposed myself to occasions of sin?—By liberty of the eyes?—of conversation?— Of thought?—By dangerous reading?—Have I sought too much after comforts and ease?

Obedience: Have I done what I was told ?— Have I submitted my will?—My judgment?— Have I obeyed promptly?—Fully?—Have I seen God in my Superior?

3. Other Points
Charity: Have I failed by suspicion ?—By rash judgment?—In word?—In act? Humility: Have I been vain ?—Too confident of my own opinion?—Sensitive?—Have I resented correction ? Industry ? Patience with others?—With myself? Punctuality? Silence? My duties: Have I neglected them?—Put them off?—Done them badly?— have I wasted time?—Have I served Christ in my charge withself-sacrifice?—With constancy?—With kindness? —Have I labored devotedly?—Thoroughly?—Impartially towards all?—In the spirit of faith?

POINT 4
I confess to Almighty God.
Our Father.
Hail Mary.
I believe in God.

Most merciful Lord! we are sorry from the bottom of our hearts for all the sins and faults we have committed, purely because they are offensive to Thee, Who art a God of infinite goodness; we sincerely detest them, and firmly purpose, through Thy holy grace, never to offend Thee any more. Enlighten our understanding, and strengthen our will, that we may persevere in Thy favor till death. Amen.

0 my God! we firmly believe all the sacred truths the Catholic Church believes and teaches, because Thou hast revealed them.

Relying on Thy goodness and promises, we hope to obtain the pardon of our sins, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, and by the intercession of His blessed Mother, and of all the Saints.

We love Thee above all things, with our whole heart and soul, purely for Thyself, and we desire to love Thee, as the Blessed do in heaven. We also love our neighbor, for Thy sake, as we love ourselves. And we sincerely forgive all who have injured us, and ask pardon of all whom we have injured.

We adore all the designs of Thy Divine Providence, resigning ourselves entirely to Thy will. We renounce the devil with all his works, the world with all its pomp's, and the flesh with all its temptations. We desire to be dissolved, and to be with Christ.

V.—Father, into Thy hands we commend our spirit,
R.—Sweet Jesus receive our souls !

May the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, and all the Saints and Angels glorify and love the Sacred Heart of Jesus for us this night, and pray for us to our Lord, that we may be preserved during it from all sin and evil.

Blessed St. Michael, defend us in the day of battle, that we may not be lost at the dreadful judgment. 0 Angels of God! to whose care we are committed by the Supreme clemency, enlighten, govern, and defend us, this night, from all sin and danger.

Save us, 0 Lord! waking, and keep us sleeping, that we may watch with Christ, and rest in peace! Amen.

Vouchsafe, 0 Lord! this night to keep us without sin.

Have mercy on us, 0 Lord!

Have mercy on us.

0 Lord, hear our prayer,
And let our supplication come unto Thee.

Visit we beseech Thee, 0 Lord, this habitation, and drive from it all the snares of the enemy. Let Thy holy Angels dwell herein, to preserve us in peace; and may Thy blessing be upon us forever: Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

God the Father, bless us! Jesus Christ, defend and keep us! Divine Spirit, enlighten and sanctify us, this night, and for ever! And may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace! Amen.

0 Lord Jesus Christ! we humbly beg of Thee, by the precious Blood Thou didst shed for us in the Garden of Olives, that Thou wilt give Thy blessing to those who are in their agony; and that Thou wilt deliver the poor souls from Purgatory, but especially the most abandoned. Conduct them to Thy glory, where they will praise and bless Thee for ever and ever. Amen

Pardon us, 0 God! the manifold sins we have committed through pride; and grant us a contempt for ourselves, proportioned to the pride which has so far enslaved us, but which we now detest sincerely. DE PROFUNDIS
Out of the depths I have cried to Thee, 0 Lord:
Lord, hear my voice.

Let Thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication.
If Thou, 0 Lord, wilt mark iniquities, Lord who shall stand it?

For with Thee there is merciful forgiveness:
and by reason of Thy law, I have waited for Thee, 0 Lord.

My soul hath relied on His word: my soul hath hoped in the Lord.
From the morning watch even until night, let Israel hope in the Lord.

Because with the Lord there is mercy; and with Him plentiful redemption.
And He shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

V.—Eternal rest give to them, 0 Lord,
R.—And let perpetual light shine upon them!

V.—May they rest in peace !
R.—Amen.

0 God, the Creator and Redeemer of all the faithful, grant to the souls of Thy servants departed, the remission of all their sins; that through pious supplications they may obtain the pardon they have always desired, who livest and reignest with the Father, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen. We fly to thy patronage, 0 Holy Mother of God, despise not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us from all dangers, 0 ever glorious and blessed Virgin.

V.—Vouchsafe that we may praise thee, 0 Blessed Virgin!
R-—Give us strength against thy enemies.

Blessed is God in His Saints. Amen.

May the Divine assistance always remain with us, and may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace! Amen.
