Noon Prayers

The Angelus.
NOON EXAMEN OF CONSCIENCE
Imagine you are on Calvary in the presence of your Crucified Jesus.

Pause

THANKSGIVING
0 my God, I most humbly thank Thee for the great benefits of Creation and Redemption, and for all the special graces Thou hast given me, for Thy mercy and patience in bearing with me in spite of my many faults and sins, and above all, my Lord and my God, for having called me to this holy Institute in order to save me in it and make me perfect in it, and to help Thee in saving other souls and rendering them perfect in Thy service.

Kiss the Wound of the Right Hand.

PETITION FOR LIGHT
0 my God, give me light to know my faults and sins and to see them in their true colors, and to realize my mean and wretched motives in committing them.

Kiss the Wound of the Left Hand.

PARTICULAR EXAMEN
How many times have I fallen into the fault or practised the virtue of my particular examen?

Mark down the record.

Kiss the Wound of the Right Foot.

I confess to Almighty God, to Blessed Mary ever Virgin, to Blessed Michael the Archangel, to Blessed John the Baptist, to the holy Apostles Peter and Paul, and to all the Saints, that I have sinned exceedingly in thought, word, and deed, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault. Therefore I beseech Blessed Mary ever Virgin, Blessed Michael the Archangel, Blessed John the Baptist, the holy Apostles Peter and Paul, and all the Saints, to pray to the Lord, Our God, for me.

V.—May the Almighty God have mercy upon us, forgive us our sins, and bring us unto life everlasting.
R.—Amen.
V.—May the almighty and merciful Lord grant us pardon, absolution, and remission of all our' sins.
R.—Amen.

ACT OF CONTRITION
0 my dear Lord, through Thy infinite mercy, pardon me my many sins and faults. I am heartily sorry for them, because by them I have grieved Thy Sacred Heart and rendered myself unworthy of Thy love. I am sorry from my heart for the ungrateful return I have made Thee for all Thy goodness to me. Forgive me, dear Lord, and pierce my heart with more and more perfect sorrow; I love Thee above all things!

Kiss the Wound of the Left Foot.

My Lord and my God, I now firmly resolve with Thy help to correct during the next day the fault of my Particular Examen and to practise the virtue I am striving for in it. Confirm my resolution by the merits of Thy bitter Passion and Death, which I now offer in satisfaction for all my faults and sins.

My heart is ready, 0 my God! My heart is ready to make atonement for my faults and sins and to adopt the means of correcting them, and of acquiring the perfection of my holy state.

Kiss the Wound of the Sacred Heart.

PRAYERS
Glory be to the Father (Seven times).
Hail Mary.
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of Hosts! all the earth is full of Thy glory. Glory be to the Father; glory be to the Son; glory be to the Holy Ghost!

PRAYER OF ST. GERTRUDE
Sacred Heart of Jesus! living and Source of eternal life, infinite treasury of the Divinity, burning furnace of divine love! Thou art our refuge and our sanctuary. 0 amiable Saviour, consume our hearts with that burning fire with which Thine is ever inflamed; pour down on our souls those graces which flow from Thy love, and let our hearts be so united to Thine, that our wills may be one, and ours in all things conformed to Thine. May Thine be the standard and rule of our desires and of our actions. Amen.

Gospel Luke 12
... At that time, Jesus said to His disciples: Fear not, little flock, for it hath pleased your Father to give you a Kingdom. Sell what you possess, and give alms. Make to yourselves bags that grow not old; a treasure in heaven that faileth not: where no thief approacheth, nor moth corrupteth. For where your treasure is, there shall your heart also be.

HYMN TO THE HOLY GHOST
Come Holy Ghost, send down those beams,
Which sweetly flow in silent streams
From Thy bright throne above.
0 come, Thou Father of the poor,
Thou bounteous source of all our store.
Come, fire our hearts with love.

0 Thou of comforters the best;
0 Thou, the soul's delightful guest,
The pilgrim's sweet relief,
Thou art our rest in toil, and sweat
Refreshment in excessive heat,
And solace in our grief.

0 sacred light, shoot home Thy darts!
0 pierce the centre of those hearts,
Whose faith aspires to Thee.
Without thy Godhead nothing can
Have any price or worth in man,
Nothing can harmless be.

Lord, wash our sinful stains away,
Water from heaven our barren clay;
Our wounds and bruises heal.
To Thy sweet yoke, our stiff necks bow,
Warm with Thy fire, our hearts of snow;
Our wandering feet repel.

0 grant Thy faithful, dearest Lord,
Whose only hope is Thy sure word,
The seven gifts of Thy Spirit!
Grant us in life, to obey Thy grace,
Grant us in death, to see Thy face,
And endless joys inherit. Amen.

HAIL, HOLY QUEEN
Hail, Holy Queen! mother of mercy! our life, our sweetness, and our hope! to thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of womb, Jesus: 0 clement! 0 loving! 0 sweet Virgin Mary!

Pray for us, 0 holy Mother of God,
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ!

Sacred Heart of Jesus, grant us grace to love and serve Thee.
Amen!

Sacred Heart of Jesus, Angel of the Great Council, direct us!

Agonizing Heart of Jesus, have mercy on the dying!

Compassionate Heart of Mary, obtain for us true humility.
