MENTAL PRAYER

Reflection on Meditation
If the exercise went well in any respect, thank God and resolve to act the same way again; if badly, be sorry and seek the reason.

BEFORE
Did I, before going to sleep, recall the hour of rising and review the exercise?

Did I entertain thoughts kindred to the exercise during the night?—on rising?—while dressing?

PARTS OF THE EXERCISE
Did I make the Act of the Presence of God ?—and of Reverence and Humility?

Was my Preparatory Prayer fervent ?

Did I make well the first Prelude ?—the second ? —the third?

Did I present the matter well ?

Did I discuss and urge it? drawing conclusions ?—exhausting the point before going on ?

Did I move my will?—-proposing motives?—and urging them?—exhausting the feeling before going on?

Did I make the Colloquy fervently ?—and reverently ?

Did I say the Final Vocal Prayer?

POSTURE
Did I take the posture calculated to help me to pray ?

Did I change it as long as I found what I wanted ?

Was I more reverent in colloquies?
